As has become something of a ‘tradition’, the club held its New Year event this past Sunday 16th; a small but enthusiastic number of members turned out on a rather ‘chilly’ morning, the enjoy an offering of something warming (thanks to Mike Burton for the donation of the mulled wine) as well as a seasonal mince pie or two. There were some flights to be had (sadly one was very short) and despite the stiff breeze it just went to show what a hardy bunch of modellers we are !
Here are a few shots from the morning’s activities, and it is hoped that some video shot by new member – Mike Stratford’s drone, will be available in due course.
- The ‘early birds’, sampling the mulled wine
- Andy Best with his new model – an Arrow Models T33 ‘Shooting Star’
- Dave W giving Andy’s T33 the old ‘heave ho’
- What can be nicer than having a chin wag with mates in the sun?
- Tim Skillett bought along his helis – TRex 550E and a beautiful ‘Airwolf’
- Gorgeous model, this is Tim’s ‘Airwolf’ – sadly the wind strength was a bit too much, so Tim elected not to risk it in the air
- Tim prepares his TRex for flight
- TRex airborne and looking good
- Mike Stratford discussing his DJI with other club members
- Dave Wilkinson prepares his Wot 4 E for a flight in the slightly blustery conditions
- Ready for take off, just waiting for the camera man to get out of the way 🙂
- … and she’s away into the wide blue yonder (well OK grey yonder)
- Ian Barker brought along his lovely Spitfire, but unfortunately the wind strength had increased somewhat by the time he arrived, so it stayed firmly on the ground.. good decision !
- Hardy souls these modellers !! Huge thanks for coming along
