The Club was asked to provide a few models that could be flown or be shown in a static display in aid of the local charity – “Smile for Georgie“. The charity organisers take groups of children to various places to provide experiences that they might not ordinarily have access to, so with that in mind, club members were asked if they could take some gliders up to the Pleinmont gliding site and show these youngsters some models flying.
A small but hardy group of club members braved the somewhat chilly conditions and flew various models as can be seen in the accompanying photos. Due to the lack of significant lift on the slop, there were a couple of electric ‘assisted’ gliders evident and these provided the youngsters with an insight into our hobby.
Huge thanks to those who took part, also to Chris Wilkinson for his flying shots and to Ann Wilkinson who provided the group shot of members who gave their time for this very worthy cause. Thanks one and all!
